Shopping up 40% over last year !!

This year’s Thanksgiving weekend shopping showed a 40% increase over 2017.  Between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday over 165 Million Americans shopped in stores or online.  Low unemployment and rising wages most certainly contributed to the weekends success but so did strategic investments by many savvy retailers.  Investments in Technology paid off big time across all platforms.  Commercial suppliers know this is all very good news, in fact spending estimates indicate the holiday weekend was record breaking.  Top buys over the weekend included apparel, books, toys and video games, electronics and gift cards.

The most popular day to shop online was no surprise, hello Cyber Monday. Younger buyers utilized social media to locate products more than ever this season.  Retailers with a strong social media presence were rewarded by accessing the more than 67 million shoppers.

So, it’s full steam ahead in the 4th quarter, special deals and discounts will win the day as we head into the New Year.  Suppliers of wholesale merchandise can take advantage of retailers re-stocking goods with end of year specials.  Go ahead and smile, it’s good news!!
